Mela Movie Cast

Actress Karishma Kapoor was first offered the female lead but due to date issues, she declined the offer. Director Dharmesh Darshan was left disheartened that his first and favorite choice was no longer part of his project, considering that Kapoor and Darshan's first collaboration was a huge success back in 1996 with Raja Hindustani. Darshan looked for a replacement and roped in three actresses: Raveena Tandon, Sonali Bendre and Twinkle Khanna. The role ultimately went to Twinkle Khanna. In order to display resemblance between Kapoor and Khanna, the director had the same clothes and the same wig that Karishma had worn in Raja Hindustani for Twinkle.
